I am very pleased to hear that Kyoto Tachibana Women's University plans
to establish a Faculty of Cultural Policy.
I would be happy to have you say that I believe it is crucial that our
Japanese colleagues begin the serious study of cultural policy. This is
a relatively new field in the United States and Europe , but little studied
elsewhere in the world.
On the other hand, several Japanese scholars, to our knowledge, have begun
to work in the field, and the time seems propitious for cultural policy
to receive institutional support in Japan.
The Center for Arts and Cultural Policy at Princeton welcomes the new
Tachibana Institute, and looks forward to collaborating with you and your
colleagues in future year.

京都橘女子大学が文化政策学部を開設されることを、たいへんうれしく思います。
日本において文化政策学が本格的に研究されるということは、重要なことだと思います。文化政策学は、アメリカ合衆国とヨーロッパにおいても比較的新しい学問の分野で、世界中の他の地域ではほとんど研究されていません。
日本において、この分野で仕事を始めている数人の研究者を知っていますが、高等教育機関にこのようなかたちで研究体制が整うことは、文化政策という学問にとって好機だと思います。
