At the Faculty of Human Development and Education, students acquire specialist knowledge and observation skills pertaining to human development and education, and learn practical educational skills to deal with today’s issues. The faculty trains human resources that can help the development of children, who will be responsible for the next generation, by engaging straightforwardly with complex and wide ranging issues, and can provide various educational and childcare services.

The Department enjoys strong links with the Educational Committees for both Kyoto City and Kyoto Prefecture, enabling its students to gain practical, first-hand fieldwork experience. The Department is dedicated to producing pioneering nursery and elementary-school teachers who can create innovative new curriculum for tomorrow's classrooms, who are both knowledgeable and humane, and who are equipped to deal with the various professional issues that they will face.
