In April 2021, Kyoto Tachibana University established a new Faculty of Engineering, with two new departments: the Department of Information and Computer Science and the Department of Architectural Design. The Department of Information and Computer Science trains IT specialists who utilize advanced information technologies such as AI, Big Data, and IoT to connect information technology with people and society. The Department of Architectural Design aims to develop individuals capable of practicing architectural design that meets the needs of the new era in a wide range of fields, including architecture, interior design, and the environment.
In a world where information technology is advancing at a rapid pace, people who have a deep insight into human nature and can contribute to society by utilizing their skills and technologies in information engineering while interacting with people in a variety of fields are greatly sought after. At our university, students cultivate practical skills by actually building systems whilst interacting with companies, government agencies, and students from other faculties.
Architecture changes along with people's lifestyles. Responding to change requires the ability to identify and solve potential problems. The distinctive feature of this program is that it aims to train students to become involved in the architecture of the real world. The program cultivates individuals who can think about and design the architecture of the future through practical experience, such as working on local issues in collaboration with the government.
